The Phoenix Steering Committee of the Human Rights Campaign is a diverse volunteer group of individuals working each and every day to bring the mission of HRC to gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender and straight-supportive people in this area.

Did You Know…? - Arizona has no law protecting discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity - HRC has 750,000 members nationwide and over 8,000 members in Arizona - LGBT Couples have not been able to jointly adopt in AZ and there is great potential for LGBT adoptions to become illegal. HRC is working with adoption and foster care agencies on policies that welcome all prospective parents regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation. - HRC publishes the Coming Out Resource Guide to help people come out not just to family and friends, but on campus, in the workplace and in the community - HRC publishes Buying for Equality, a guide to companies and products that support GLBT equality - HRC has partnered with the National Center for Transgender Equality to create coming out resources for transgender individuals - HRC is lobbying Congress for fully-inclusive hate crimes legislation - HRC is lobbying Congress for a fully inclusive Employment Non-Discrimination Act - HRC continues to build support for the Military Readiness Enhancement Act (MREA), which would repeal Don't Ask, Don't Tell (DADT) policy - HRC is addressing the pervasive problem of bullying of LGBT students by amending the Safe and Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act - HRC maintains a Congressional Scorecard on how your elected officials have voted on issues of equality (Information available at www.HRC.org) - HRC produces an annual Corporate Equality Index (CEI) to rate U.S. businesses on how they are treating gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender employees, consumers and investors - HRC publishes an annual Healthcare Equality Index that rates U.S. hospitals on how they treat their gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender patients and employees - All HRC Board of Directors and Board of Governors serve as volunteers
